Read clinical detail (for HCPs)

Cholecalciferol is hydroxylated to 25-OH-D in the liver and to calcitriol in the kidney, regulating intestinal calcium absorption and bone mineralisation.

Indications

Vitamin D3 deficiency (serum 25-OH-D below 30 ng/mL); adjunct in osteoporosis management; supportive nutrition in patients with chronic pain.

Dosage & administration

One shot weekly for 8 weeks, then as advised by the physician for maintenance. Monitor serum calcium with long-term use.

Do not change your dose or stop the medicine without consulting your doctor.

Frequently asked questions

How is this different from a daily capsule?
It is a once-weekly high-dose shot for correcting deficiency, in a sugar-free liquid that is easier to take than capsules — useful for elderly patients.
Do I need a blood test first?
Vitamin D is best dosed based on a 25-OH-D blood level. Your doctor will advise testing and the right correction schedule.
Is it safe for diabetics?
It is sugar-free. As with any medicine, follow your doctor's advice, especially if you take other medications.
Can I take it long-term?
After the correction phase, your doctor will set a maintenance plan and may monitor your calcium. Do not self-extend high doses.
Can I take it with my calcium tablet?
Often yes, but tell your doctor everything you take so total calcium and Vitamin D intake stay safe.
What if I miss a weekly dose?
Take it when you remember, then continue your weekly schedule. Do not double up. Ask your doctor if unsure.
